Draft Candidates

Written by Rudy on April 24, 2009 - 6:43 am -

This is the Rudy Report's famed weekend edition and there are only 8 month left until Christmas, but let's get through the summer first, today on "National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day." You remember that the Rudy Report mentioned cupstacking champion Emily Fox in yesterday's report. Right? Well, of course, the Wall Street Journal had to copy our groundbreaking work and followed up with a whole article on cupstacking. No joke. Anyways, here is a picture showing the top NFL Draft prospects for the Detroit Lions this weekend:

The New York Giants seem to have stopped pursuing wide receiver Braylon Edwards as the costs to acquire the player have become too high. Saturday's NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall will for sure bring some surprises. The Mets played against St. Louis and had a bad 12-8 loss. Is it October yet? In the NHL playoffs, the New Jersey Devils beat Carolina 1-0 with a Martin Brodeur shut-out (44 saves) and a David Clarkson goal. In Chicago, there was a security threat against Celtic Tony Allen, but Boston still managed to beat the Bulls.

The Rudy Report says Happy Birthday to Carlos Beltran, Eric Snow (Snow in April?), and Italian soccer legend Alessandro Costacurta (like really). On this day in 1800, the United States Library of Congress was established when President John Adams signed legislation to appropriate $5,000 to purchase "such books as may be necessary for the use of Congress." Like every book... Have a great weekend, it's your chance to catch up on reading old Dear Rudys, because there's no new one, but check out what Mark Twain says about golf in the Funny Sports Quote section!

Celebrity Sighting

Written by Rudy on April 23, 2009 - 8:14 am -

As the Rudy Report has drastically ramped up its updates on Twitter, the actual report remains politically correct (according to Iranian standards), today on "International Sing Out Day." After being the only report to exclusively show Eliot Spitzer and his cameo at "Real Housewives of New York City", the Rudy Report has yet another celebrity sighting for you. Rapper P. Diddy did what Wall Street has been doing since last year and went on to become P. "Shiddy." Check it out right here...

The Yankees are the most valuable baseball club, according to Forbes, valued at $1.5 billion. Thanks to a new stadium, the Mets moved into second place ($912 million) followed by the Red Sox ($883 million). Last night, the Yankees needed 14 innings to beat Oakland 9-7. Melky Cabrera hit the game-winning home run. It looks like there is a real possibility for a NFL strike, because players and owners remain split about the next collective bargaining agreement.

There are rumors that New York Knick Mike D'Antoni will become the next coach for Team USA. Orlando's UFL franchise is interested in signing Michael Vick. The Rangers beat Washington 2-1 at MSG thanks to an amazing performance by goalie Henrik Lundqist. They need one more win to advance. And, in the NBA, Orlando won and tied the series at 1-1 against Philadelphia.

The Rudy Report says Happy Birthday to Andruw Jones, Bobby Shaw, and American cupstacking champion Emily Fox (you thought we'd forget to mention her, didn't you?!?). On this day in 1988, Pink Floyd's album "Dark Side of the Moon" left the charts for the first time after spending a record 741 consecutive weeks (over 14 years) on the Billboard 200. Taking The Hurdle

Written by Rudy on April 22, 2009 - 10:08 am -

BREAKING NEWS: During last night's episode of the "Real Housewives of New York City", you were able to see Client No. 9 Eliot Spitzer (and wife!!!) for a split-second in the beginning scene. This is probably the greatest catch in the Rudy Report's history. Here's proof and then onto today's Rudy Report:

While everyone is probably telling you to celebrate "Earth Day" (whatever that means), the Rudy Report will focus on the most cutting-edge news and authentic features, today on "National Administrative Professionals Day." As you know, so far, the so-called government Stress Test has probably stressed the public more than the actual banks. Most financial institutions are expected to pass the test, but for some, the hurdle might be slightly too high, like in the picture below...

Hurdle 1_1

Here's a request to the Yankees: Can you all please start taking steroids like A-Rod? Maybe that will help... By the way, the Yankees were able to beat Oakland 5-3. Real Madrid has offered 38 million Euros for Franck Ribery, but ManU is also said to be interested in Kaka and Ribery as replacements for Ronaldo, who might leave. In England, Liverpool and Arsenal had a 4-4 tie, with Andrei Arshavin scoring all 4 goals for Arsenal in an incredible match. The Devils had a 4-3 loss against Carolina and the series is now tied 2-2.

The Rudy Report says Happy Birthday to Marshawn Lynch, hockey star Zarley Zalapski (which has got to be the coolest name in sports), and Dan Cloutier. On this day in 1500, Portuguese navigator Pedro Alvares Cabral became the first European to sight Brazil. He must have been surprised that they all spoke his language there... Have a great day, check out a new Dear Rudy about Joe Rogan, and find out what the Korean take on "The Sound of Music" entailed in the Random Fact section!

Great Deals

Written by Rudy on April 21, 2009 - 9:36 am -

With all the talk about tax increases, the Rudy Report has a political message: "Hey, Obama, keep the change!", today on "National Woodworking Day." If you are one of the many people that regularly eat, then you will love the updated Rudy Report Restaurant Guide. Several new restaurants, such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Nobu Next Door, and - the most unusual restaurant review yet - a place called Tavern on Dean have been added. Some of these places offer great deal, because, you know, we're in a deep recession. But be careful, some deals are not as good as they sound, like this one...

Deal_1

The Yankees-Oakland game got postponed because of bad weather in New York City. The Rangers had their first home game against Washington, but they lost 4-0. However, the Rangers still lead the series 2-1. The Chicago Bulls showed another great performance with Ben Gordon scoring 42 points, but a last second game-winning basket by Ray Allen won the game for the Celtics. The series is now tied 1-1.

The Rudy Report says Happy Birthday to Vincent Lecavalier (these NHL superstars grow up so fast), Tony Romo, and Carnell "Cadillac" Williams (with the upcoming bankruptcy of GM, do you really want to be called Cadillac?). On this day in 753 BC, Romulus and Remus found Rome, which was easy, because "all roads lead to Rome." Have a great day, check out a Dear Rudy about Britain's new star Susan Boyle, and learn something about negotiating from Patrick Ewing in the Funny Sports Quote section!

Bailout Continued - A new report finds that there are no serious buyer interested in acquiring failing NHL team Phoenix Coyotes, which could force the league to support them next season. Read here.

Losing Is Not An Option

Written by Rudy on April 20, 2009 - 7:23 am -

Summer is slowly approaching and with that, we can also expect the debate about Global Warming to heat up, but the Rudy Report stays hip and cool as always, today on "National Make a Quilt Day." With the economy improving only in Somalia and everyone else still struggling, there are still substantial fears that one of the big US automakers will go bankrupt. German cars remain popular, but competition is increasing, showing once again that losing is not an option, like in this picture right here...

Sign_Wars_1

Real Madrid wants to sign ManU striker Carlos Tevez and Barcelona is interested in Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas. Everton will play against Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Golf is fighting to become an Olympic competition in 2016, but it has to compete with other sports, such as rugby, squash and roller sports (yes, roller sports). In the NHL playoffs, the Rangers continued to surprise after taking a 2-0 lead in the series against Washington. The Yankees had an ugly 22-4 record loss against Cleveland on Saturday, but at least they beat the Indians 7-3 on Sunday. The Mets lost against Milwaukee 4-2. Both, the Lakers and the Cavaliers won their first game in the NBA playoffs.

The Rudy Report says Happy Birthday to Steve Spurrier, Don Mattingly, and Viacheslav Fetisov. On this day in 2008, Danica Patrick won the Indy Japan 300, becoming the first female driver in history to win an Indy Car race. [Fill in your feminist or chauvinist comment here.] Have a great week, check out a brand-new Dear Rudy about the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and get to know a law that finally makes sense in the Random Fact section (please note that only the Rudy Report Random Fact section is the original and don't fall for cheap copies like the "Ransom Fact" section on the Somali pirates website. Fact piracy is a problem.)!
